I know I may be a little late to the Brussel Sprouts party, but I made it and I am in love with these Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts! I think you will love them too! All it takes is very minimal prep and a little oil, salt and pepper to create the Brussel Sprouts. Then with a couple more ingredients and a little whisking, you will have a glaze and a sauce that completes the most amazing little flavor bombs! They are perfect for anything from a game day or dinner party appetizer, to a date night side dish!

Ingredients
- Brussel Sprouts (try to choose ones on the smaller side)
- Oil- Avocado Oil Spray is my favorite.
- Gochujang
- Honey
- lemon juice
- Mayo
- Garlic
- Fish sauce
- Sesame Oil
- coconut aminos
How to Prep the Sprouts
There really isn't much to it! Start by making sure your brussel sprouts are clean and dry. It is very important that they are dry when they go into the fryer. If they are wet, they will just steam and not crisp up like we want them to, so make sure they are very dry!
Use a paring knife, cut the very end off of the sprouts. Make sure you just cut enough to freshen up the end. The stem is what holds all of the leaves on, so don't cut too much!
Cut the sprouts in half starting at the stem. Place them all in a large bowl.
Spray the sprouts for 3 seconds with Avocado Oil spray. Toss the sprouts, then spray them again for 3 seconds and toss again.
Now they are ready to fry!
Different Methods of Frying
Method #1: Air Fryer
It took me a long time to get on board with the air fryer. I was a skeptic who couldn't accept that what is basically a tiny convection oven could create a healthier alternative to traditional frying. And, while I still don't think it is an exact replacement, I also don't think that is necessarily a bad thing. It is simply another option for creating crispy and delicious food.
Although these air fryer brussel sprouts still require oil, they only require a fraction of what traditional frying requires. For these, just tossing them with a couple spritzes of avocado oil is all it takes to create crispy sprouts!
Start by preheating your air fryer to 400ยฐF. Once it preheated, add the sprouts and set the timer for 12 minutes.
Make sure you don't overcrowd your fryer. You may need to fry a couple of batches, depending on the size of your air fryer. You can see the one I have here, on Amazon.
Every 2-3 minutes, shake the basket so that the sprouts get evenly browned on all sides.
Once they are brown and crisp, remove the fryer basket and place the sprouts in a large bowl. It is that easy!
Method #2: Traditional Hot Oil Frying
Frying in hot oil, to me is intimidating. Is it to you? But I am learning that the secret to making it less scary is a nice, deep Stock Pot and a Spider Strainer like these ones on Amazon. These tools will make frying a million times easier and much less intimidating!
Fill the pot with just 1 inch of oil. Use a thermometer to check the temperature as it heats. Heat the oil to 375ยฐF.
Pro Tip: Make sure your brussel sprouts are completely dry before you put them in the hot oil. This is very important! Any moisture is going to splatter and pop like crazy, so make sure they are dry!
Then, working in batches, lower just enough Brussel Sprouts to fit in the spider, into the hot oil. This is about 1 cup of sprouts. Doing this will ensure that the oil will not bubble up over the top, and it will also keep the temperature of the oil from dropping.
The sprouts will sizzle and bubble up a little at first. This is just the moisture in the sprouts coming into contact with the oil. After a few seconds, they will stop popping. Let them fry for a few minutes, stirring them gently with the strainer until they are golden brown.
Once they are crispy and brown, turn off the burner, and use the spider strainer to scoop them out of the oil. Place them on a paper towel to collect any excess oil, and sprinkle them lightly with salt.
Important Tip! If you have a gas stove, make sure you TURN OFF the burner BEFORE you remove the Brussel Sprouts from the hot oil. This will eliminate the possibility of the oil catching the burner flame and ruining your day! ๐
How to Put it all Together
While the sprouts are frying, create the sauces.
For the Gochujang glaze, simply mix together the Gochujang paste and honey and then set it aside.
For the Yuzu Aioli, mix together the mayonnaise, minced garlic clove, yuzu juice (or lemon juice), coconut aminos, fish sauce and sesame oil. Whisk it all together and then spread it in a thin layer on the platter that you will use to serve the brussel sprouts.
Once the brussel sprouts come out of the fryer, toss them with the Gochujang glaze until they are evenly coated.
Pile them onto the platter, on top of the Yuzu Aioli. Serve them immediately while they are still hot. Enjoy!

Notes
Notes:
- To make this dish vegan, simply use avocado, or vegan mayo, leave the fish sauce out of the aioli, and substitute 1Tablespoon brown sugar for the honey.ย
- To fry the brussel sprouts in a traditional hot oil fryer, fill a large stock pot with 1 inch of oil. Bring the oil to 375ยฐF. Fry the sprouts in 2 batches for a couple minutes, stirring with a strainer occasionally. When sprouts are golden brown, turn off the burner, and use a strainer to remove them from the hot oil. Place them on a paper towel to remove excess oil, and then follow the recipe to glaze and serve.ย
- Enjoy! ๐
