These Sliders are juicy and sweet and salty with a teeny bit of a kick! Smothered with creamy and salty teriyaki mayo and topped with sweet and spicy candied pineapple and jalapeños all held together between delicious Hawaiian rolls. It tastes so decadent, but the whole meal is made with just 8 ingredients! It is one of my absolute favorite burgers!
What you Need to Make these Little Burgers
- Hawaiian rolls~ King’s Hawaiian Rolls are the best! You can purchase actual King’s Hawaiian Slider Buns, but I prefer the plain old dinner rolls. They are fluffier and I think that adds to the amazing texture of this burger! If you can’t find Hawaiian rolls, small rolls or slider buns will work as well. There is enough sweetness from the pineapple that you won’t miss the sweetness if you use a regular roll.
- Ground Beef~ You will need a pound of Hamburger, but you could also use ground turkey, or chicken if you are trying to keep it a bit lighter… If you do use beef, choose a fattier blend. It helps the burger patties stay together, and let’s be honest, no matter what kind of meat you use, this is not a burger that fits on any diet….except maybe the, “See-food diet”! ????
- Cheese~ I use Pepper Jack cheese, but you can use whichever is your favorite.
- Pineapple~ I use fresh pineapple, but you can certainly use frozen or canned pineapple. Just make sure if you use canned, that you use the, “chunks”, and not the, “crushed” pineapple.
- Fresh Jalapeños~I used one jalapeño in this recipe, but if you like a little more heat, feel free to add a second…or third…!
- Brown Sugar~ This helps the pineapple and jalapeños get nice and candied.
- Mayonnaise~ This is used in the teriyaki Mayo. You can use whichever type of mayo you like.
- Teriyaki sauce~ We just use 1 Tablespoon to create the teriyaki mayo.
How do you Candy Pineapple and Jalapeños?
There are different techniques and styles of creating Pineapple and Jalapeño candy. For this burger, I wanted it sticky but not too saucy. The way to achieve this could not be any easier! You simply cut your pineapple into approximately 1/2 inch chunks, and then cut the jalapeños into very thin rings, then place them all in a saucepan, add some sugar and a pinch of salt, and boil it all down until it is thick and caramelized! The juices from the pineapple and jalapeño will come out, so you don’t need to add any additional liquid. Like I said, Super. Easy.
How to Put it all Together
Cheeseburger sliders with Hawaiian rolls are so good on their own, but the addition of the combo of the sweet and spicy pineapple/ jalapeños with the Teriyaki mayo makes them next level good! If you are a sweet and salty type girl (or guy!), this is going to be your new favorite, I just know it! So, let’s get to it!
Grill your burger patties for about 4 minutes per side. Put a slice of cheese on top of each patty for the last minute or so, just so it melts. Throw your Hawaiian rolls on the grill or Blackstone too. Just slice them, hamburger bun style, and put them cut side down right on the grill grate for a minute or so. Make sure they are not directly over the flame. We want them toasty, not crispy critters.
When they are done, pull the burgers and buns, and get to building some epic burgers! Slather both top and bottom bun with teriyaki mayo. Place the burger patty on the bottom bun, and then spoon a big ‘ol dollop of candied pineapple and jalapeños right on top of the patty. Top it with the top bun, and try not to drool all over it!
That is it! Serve these delicious sliders with plenty of napkins…and maybe some of these Blistered Shishito Peppers, while you have the grill going. Enjoy!

Notes
Notes
- If you want, feel free to fry the burgers in a skillet on your stove.
- These don’t have to be sliders! Feel free to make them full size burgers, or even double burgers if you are feeling, especially ravenous!
- Using just one jalapeño adds just a subtle spiciness, so if you and your guests love the heat, add another jalapeño or 2!
- Serve with lots of napkins!
- Enjoy! ♥️
