This is a great recipe to have on hand when your garden (or your favorite veggie stand) is bursting with green beans! It is an incredibly quick, easy, and healthy appetizer or side dish.

Air Fryer Green Beans as a side dish

This recipe can easily be made as a side dish instead of an appetizer. To do this, simply double the amount of green beans and oil, and make sure to cut or pinch the stems off. Make the same amount of dipping sauce, but instead of a dipping sauce, simply drizzle a small amount over the beans right before serving.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Green Beans- Smaller green beans such as french haricot vert crisp up a little more than bigger varieties, but any variety will be delicious.
  • Olive Oil- We use just a small amount to coat the green beans to help them crisp up in the air fryer.
  • Salt- I season with just a pinch of sea salt before they go into the fryer, and then a small pinch of a flaky finishing salt when they come out of the fryer, which is optional.

Dipping Sauce

  • Mayonnaise- This is the creamy base for the dipping sauce.
  • Toasted Sesame Oil- This sesame flavor is so good with green beans.
  • Sriracha- This spicy and slightly sweet sauce adds a teeny bit of kick to the sauce.
  • Lemon Juice- Just a little squeeze of lemon brightens it all up.

How to make simple Air Fryer Green Beans

Green beans drizzled with olive oil in a white bowl.

Preheat your air fryer to 400ยฐF.

Start by making sure your green beans are washed and dried. Drying is a particularly important step because if they are wet, they will steam in the air fryer rather than crisp. So be sure to make sure your beans are dry.

Pinch or cut the stems off the tops.

Drizzle them with olive oil and toss them around so that they are all well coated with oil. This is another step that ensures that the beans crisp up. I should also mention that the smaller and thinner the bean, the more they will crisp.

Sprinkle them with a pinch of salt and toss to make sure they are evenly seasoned.

Put them in the air fryer. Spread them into an even layer. If you have a rack, divide them up and place some on the rack and some on the bottom of the fryer. This is another way to help them crisp up.

Set the timer for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, shake the basket to toss the beans. Then, set the timer for 5 more minutes. They should be done after 10 total minutes. If you'd like the beans a little more done, continue air frying them in 1 minute increments until they are cooked to your desired doneness.
